• Clarifying the type of assets subject to valuation and legalization: real estate, business shares, securities, intellectual property, movable or immovable property.
• Reviewing the client’s existing documents: ownership certificates, purchase agreements, corporate charters, tax filings, and any prior valuations.
• Identifying missing or insufficient documentation required for accurate valuation and legal registration.
• Preparing a checklist of documents to be collected, such as notarized ownership papers, registration records, financial statements, and identification documents.
• Providing guidance on obtaining additional supporting records from state registries, notaries, banks, or corporate archives.

Stage 2: Eligibility Assessment and Strategy Development

Advisor/Legal Expert Actions:

• Conducting a comprehensive review of asset status and legal standing (title chain, encumbrances, liens, pledges, cross-border ownership, beneficial ownership).
• Evaluating valuation methods appropriate to the asset class (market, income, cost approaches; DCF, comps, NAV for businesses; royalty relief for IP).
• Identifying risks and gaps that may affect valuation or legalization (defective title, missing registrations, tax exposure, sanctions/AML flags, corporate governance issues).
• Determining regulatory and accounting requirements applicable to the purpose of valuation (M&A, inheritance, court, IFRS/GAAP, tax reporting).
• Selecting the optimal legalization route: notarization, registration, apostille/legalization, re-registration of title, or corporate amendments.
• Developing a step-by-step strategy and timeline: evidence collection, expert appraisals, legal filings, and coordination with registries/notaries/tax authorities.
• Providing recommendations to mitigate identified risks (title curative actions, indemnities, restructuring, tax rulings/clearances).

Stage 3: Application Submission and Ongoing Support

Advisor/Legal Expert Actions:

1. Preparing and assembling a complete asset valuation report in compliance with the selected methodology and applicable standards (IVS, IFRS, USPAP, national law).
2. Drafting and notarizing all required legalization documents: contracts, title transfer forms, corporate resolutions, or affidavits.
3. Filing documents with relevant authorities: land or property registries, intellectual property offices, corporate registrars, or tax authorities.
4. Managing communication with regulators, notaries, and registrars to ensure timely approval, registration, or certification.
5. Addressing additional requirements or requests from authorities (supplemental evidence, clarifications, or expert opinions).
6. Providing ongoing updates on process milestones, approvals, or delays.
7. Representing the client’s interests in appeals, disputes, or negotiations if legalization is challenged.

Timeframe:

• 1–2 months — for standard valuations and straightforward legalization filings.
• 3–6+ months — for complex cases (cross-border assets, multiple jurisdictions, contested ownership, or litigation support).
• Ongoing support — available under long-term advisory contracts (monitoring asset status, renewals, or revaluations).
