Filing Form I-864A Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member
Legal and Administrative Actions:
- Complete Form I-864A when a household member’s income or assets will be added to meet the minimum financial requirement for immigration sponsorship.
- Household member provides proof of income (tax returns, W-2s, pay stubs) and relationship to the sponsor.
- Both the sponsor and the household member sign the form, creating a binding financial contract.
- Attach the completed I-864A to the main I-864 Affidavit of Support package filed with USCIS or NVC.
- Submit the form along with all supporting evidence to show combined financial ability to support the intending immigrant.
Time: Prepared and filed together with the I-864. Valid for the duration of the sponsorship obligation, which usually lasts until the immigrant becomes a U.S. citizen or earns 40 quarters of work.
